About Me

The Drumbeat I March To

Micah Joyner - Profile Picture

Hey there, I’m Micah, a User Experience (UX) Designer / UI Architect Hybrid by day, and Audio Engineer by night. I have always had an intense fascination of form and function, and in particular the art and ingenuity that goes into combining both. I am driven to continuously create, learn, and progress, especially if it helps improve people’s lives.

Design

Starting out in tech as a developer, building and designing website interfaces, I was able to express my passion for creation and technical design. Though, it has never been enough to stay put. Learning as much as I could resulted in touching on most of the aspects and tech that go into building an entire web presence; everything from marketing to design, from front-end to backend, as well as DevOps. Something was missing though. The “how” I figured was answered, but what about the “why”?

Awakened in me was a new passion for the human experience. As a User Experience Designer, I now focus on the users and I design tailored experiences, and because of my history with development, I am able to keep in mind the technical requirements, quirks, and limitations of the technology we use to build them. I also believe user experience design by nature has a requirement to be inclusive. Accessibility is one of my primary focuses while I design and develop a project. I prioritize creating digital experiences that are usable by individuals of all abilities by adhering to WCAG guidelines, incorporating accessible navigation, and ensuring content is readable and compatible with assistive technologies.

Audio

Audio engineering has always been a passion of mine, even as it has remained a secondary pursuit alongside my primary career. After earning an engineering diploma, I directed my focus toward the video game industry, where I had the opportunity to engineer sound effects for several titles. Music production, another key passion of mine, is an element I strive to incorporate into my work whenever possible. Looking ahead, I am eager to integrate more music production into future projects, blending both disciplines to create dynamic and immersive audio experiences.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit more about me.  If you have a project I can help you with or just want to say hi, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
